bridal bouquet

favorite wedding details of 2012

We all know how brides-to-be love to look for ideas to inspire their own. With that in mind, here is a selection of photos from the weddings I photographed in 2012, focusing on various details of the wedding day.

With these photos (above), I loved the combination of the bride’s elegant hands and the slightly unusual floral design. Florist: Carroll’s Florist

bridal bouquet wedding hands

An intimate gesture, as the couple held hands during the ride in the horse-drawn carriage. The wedding took place in Central Park, and was just the bride and groom, the officiant and myself as photographer and witness.

creative photo wedding rings

It’s always a challenge to come up with an interesting and creative way to show the couple’s wedding rings.

Benjamin Adams bride's shoes

The combination of the dress in the background, and the sun streaming through the window, just begged for the shoes to be displayed there on this table of Middle Eastern origin. I also liked how the purple shade of the curtains reflected in the shaded part of the shoes.

Kleinfelds wedding dress

Trying to find a way to incorporate the shoes and dress in a single shot, I noticed how the dress in the window reflected in the shiny surface of the coffee table. Then it just needed some careful arrangement of the elements in the photograph’s composition.

funky socks for groomsmen - wedding

You know, weddings need not be all formal black tuxes and stuff. It’s easy enough to add a dash of color with some funky socks for the groomsmen.

wedding signing board

Instead of the usual photo for the signing board at her wedding, this bride chose this unusual artistic piece.

wedding favors

It is always interesting to see what wedding favors a bride and groom come up with. Here, a bottle of preservers (or jam, if you will), for every guest. I loved the image on the bottle.

The way that the wedding reception venues are done up, makes up a large part of the detail images that I shoot at every wedding. Here’s a selection of my favorite images of the various venues where I shot at this year.

Great shots Neil, that’s why you’re the best

Beautiful work as always Neil.

Some friends and I had a conversation the other day. One of the guys has a shoot upcoming (February) in a less than stellar venue. He always has trouble with the cake shots there. They are always on a less than pretty table against some really ugly wallpaper. Any tips you could provide over on your Tangents blog would be truly appreciated.

Happy New Year to you – youre the best! 😉
