Lindsay & Tom – wedding – Rumson Country Club, NJ
A wedding on the Jersey Shore – Rumson Country Club, to be specific – with a beautiful ocean backdrop for the outdoor ceremony. That was the setting for Lindsay and Tom’s wedding. It was a blustery day though, as Lindsay mentions here in the Q&A. The wind certainly had its way with her veil during the ceremony. And with just a few close friends and family members there, it was easy to stop everyone right after the ceremony and gather them around for a group shot.
The atmosphere the entire day was relaxed and intimate. One of those days where it really is fun being the wedding photographer. Lindsay & Tom, again, congratulation, and best wishes for your life together.
I sent a Q&A set to Lindsay & Tom, and here they are with a few words about their wedding day:
How did you first meet?
Our first date was the best first date ever! I had a 20 mile race the next day because I was training for the Boston marathon. We met at 5:00 for an early drink so I could get to bed before the long race the next day. We enjoyed each other so much that we decided to add dinner in the North End before calling it a night. We both felt like we didn’t want the night to end!
Why did you choose the Rumson Country Club as your wedding venue?
I grew up going to Rumson Country Club as a child for summer camp filled with swimming soccer tennis golf and sailing. The club is a very special place to my family as both my parents and grandparents were members and was an amazing childhood memory. Tom also enjoys golf with my parents and sailing with my father.
What did you love most about it?
We love how relaxing it is to be there either swimming golfing or sailing. We also enjoy relaxing water front with a beer and a Southside before dinner. As for our wedding day we loved the wind and perfect weather!
Tell us about your dress, shoes and other accessories!
My jewelry was the most special. The pearl set was given to my grandmother from my grandfather as a 25th wedding anniversary gift. It was a way for me to celebrate my grandparents at our wedding. My dress was from Anthropologie’s BHLDN wedding line and the shoes were Jack Rogers. The flowers my mom sister and I wore in our hair were made by a talented coworker from the remnants of my dress and I loved them! Toms outfit was country club inspired from vineyard vines and brooks brothers
What was your wedding inspiration?
I honestly wanted to keep things as simple and fun as possible! We wanted the focus to remain on our new marriage rather than getting lost in the details. We wanted people to feel like they were part of a intimate gathering! We went with traditional white. We also had my mother and family friend create special touches such as a hand made seating chart, wedding direction signs and a cute bouquet! I also had a friend wood burn our guestbook plank! We also enjoyed sharing homemade strawberry jalapeño jam with our guests! I guess you can say the special touches of our day came from the special people in our lives.
What was your favorite moment during your wedding day?
Walking down the aisle and seeing Tom waiting for me. His favorite was seeing me for the first time.
What one moment will last with you both forever?
The ceremony sealed with a kiss and Probably the blowing not of the veil!
What advice would you give to future brides for their wedding day?
Keep it simple so you have time to enjoy the time with friends and family. Remember the main reason for the event is your new marriage!!!
What was the biggest surprise on your wedding day?
That I was able to feel so much joy and love for my new husband and all my family who joined us! Also Toms grooms speech was a surprise to me!
Why did you choose me for your photography?
You were highly recommended by my running buddy and awesome photographer, Nancy Gould
What’s next on your calendar as a couple?
We are moving from Boston to the Philadelphia area!
