Catherine & Ed – wedding – Old Town Alexandria, VA

This is going to be an exciting year where I get to travel much further afield than New Jersey and New York for the weddings that I get to photograph. Catherine and Ed live in Virginia, but decided to have me photograph their wedding. Catherine’s brother’s recommended me on the strength of my Tangents blog and the photography books that I’ve written. And that is a huge compliment!

Before the big day, I had met Catherine and Ed again for their engagement photo session in Central Park. Ed’s sense of humor and Catherine’s graceful manner was part of what made them quite endearing as a couple. So I knew they’d be wonderful to work with on their wedding day. Both the bride and groom’s prep was at the Old Town Alexandria Hilton. After the ceremony at St Mary’s, we went to the Waterfront in Old Town Alexandria. Walking around with the bridal party was a great way of getting some candid photos of the group. For the reception, we went back to the Hilton, and this is where we did the romantic portraits of Catherine and Ed later on in the evening.
