Stephanie & Keith – wedding at the Kittle House Inn, NY
Stephanie and Keith’s wedding was a beautiful low-key event. The atmosphere on the day was friendly was and informal, with friends and family gathered around the garden of the Kittle House where the ceremony and cocktail hour took place. They had a specific theme for their wedding, with the decor for the ceremony and reception based around oranges and lemons. Stephanie and Keith had a number of endearing moments worked into the day, with the peak being how they both surprised each other by serenading one another.
I sent a Q&A set to Stephanie and Keith, and here they are with a few words about their wedding day:
What detail did you like best about your wedding day?
Hard to choose.. If I had to pick one detail, I would say the music selection. No one probably noticed but Keith and I put a lot of thought into which songs were played throughout the night. I also wanted to be a little different so I opted for acoustic covers of pop songs instead of the typical radio play.
How did you choose the Kittle House as your wedding venue?
It was one out of 5 venues our planner brought us to. It had the bright white indoor space I wanted and had “greenery of the scenery” that you just can’t get in manhattan. Most importantly, since Kittle House is primarily a restaurant and inn, we knew the food would be good and our guests would be taken care of all in one place.
Tell us about your dress, shoes and other accessories!
My dress was handmade by Rebecca schoneveld, a designer in Brooklyn. I wanted something traditional but not typical. What I love about it is its simple elegance. Plus it’s fun to twirl in.
I borrowed my veil from my MOH and best friend who just got married in May. The hair piece I wore is my mom’s who wore it at her wedding. I also wore a necklace my mother in law bought me that has my birthstone.

Describe your decor and how you chose it!
We had a citrus theme. Oranges, lemons, and limes galore to incorporate my favorite colors and pay homage to my maiden name one last time. I wanted lots of happy and bright colors surrounding me and our guests.
What was your favorite moment during your wedding day?
The surprise serenade that my husband had been planning and rehearsing since last year! I had no idea he was going to do that.
Tell us about your food and cake!
The food was delicious and provided by the kittle house chefs. The balsamic mushroom appetizer we included was a hit.
We were untraditional with the cake and decided not to have one. Instead, we had a nice cream station with diy toppings.
Why did you choose Neil van Niekerk for your photography?
My brother is a fan of your work and recommended you to me. What I liked about your style is your use of lighting and the sophisticated yet romantic ambience you’re able to capture in your photos.
