Yumie and Jeff – wedding at Park West Loft Ridgewood NJ
Yumie and Jeff’s wedding was a lovely and intimate affair with their closest friends and family. For me, there were several notable moments during the day. Yumie’s parents and brother flew in from Japan for the wedding, and there was a translator there who translated the ceremony to them via earpieces. One of the sweetest memorable moments was during the reception when I saw the two mothers happily chatting to each other via the interpreter.
I first met Yumie when she came to my studio for business headshots, and she noticed the canvases on the walls of weddings I had photographed. She then asked about wedding photography since she and Jeff were recently engaged.
They both got ready at their home, and of course we had to include their dog in a few photos. From there left for the Park West Loft restaurant and event space in Ridgewood. NJ, where both the ceremony and reception were to take place. For the romantic portraits we stopped went to a few of their favorite spots in the area, including their favorite restaurant / hang-out place.
Yumie and Jeff, it was a wonderful experience photographing your wedding. Best wishes for your future together!
I sent a Q&A set to Yumie and Jeff, and here they are with a few words about their wedding day:
How did you first meet?
We met through a mutual friend. Yumie went to school with one of my good friends.
Why did you chose Park West Loft as your wedding venue?
We chose the Park West Loft because we loved the downtown Ridgewood area and used to frequently eat at their restaurant downstairs. Ridgewood was one of the first areas we spent time in when we moved to NJ.
Describe some of your favorite wedding details and how you came up with them.
We wanted a rustic/industrial theme. We loved the brick walls in the Loft and the wood accents.
What song played for your first dance?
A cover of Elvis’ “Can’t help falling in love” by Kina Grannis.
What was your favorite moment during your wedding day?
First dance!
What advice would you give to future brides for their wedding day?
Have the wedding “you” want to have. And take care of important details early, there’s never enough time when it gets close to the day and friends and family will all be asking for your time.
What was the biggest surprise on your wedding day?
How very fast the entire event felt like it went by.
Why did you choose me for your photography?
Experience, thorough your website and Yumie used you for corporate headshots.
What’s next on your calendar as a couple?
A belated honeymoon.
