Geeta & Andy – their wedding day – venue: DuPont Hotel, Delaware
It’s the cutest anecdote how Geeta and Andy met – their apartments overlooked and each had a cat that would sit and stare at the other. From there conversation picked up … and these small moments led to this, their wedding day.
The wedding venue was the magnificent DuPont Hotel, in Wilmington Delaware. (By the way, at the end of this selection of my favorite photos of the day, there are several photos showing the details and interior of the reception venue – magnificent!)
The Baraat is the tradition in northern India where the bridegroom travels to the bride’s on a horse, accompanied by a large procession with a band and dancers. This is of course a bit of a logistical challenge in a city center on a icy winter’s day.
Andy, dressed in a colorful Indian outfit, led the Baraat – a procession of family members and guests dancing to music. Invigorating and fun for everyone!
Then, according to tradition, the bride’s parents meet the groom and his parents. Geeta’s mom anointed Andy with spices, and then added her own bit of mischief, pinching his nose. She did the same with Geeta’s sister’s wedding a year or two ago. (You can see Anandi & Amit’s wedding here.)
Then everyone moved towards the ceremony location in the hotel … and afterwards the party! You will just have to look through the photos to get a sense of the vibrant events on Geeta and Andy’s day. As a wedding photographer, I’m especially proud of this selection of photos.
Geeta and Andy, it was wonderful meeting the two of you. Congrats and the very best!
