Family & kids portrait photography – Mikayla & Connor
One of the most rewarding things about being a wedding and family portrait photographer, is keeping in touch with a couple from their wedding day onwards, and then getting to photograph a maternity session and the newborn, and the 1-yr old. The entire progression through to another sibling or two. As a photographer, you get to see the family grow. I photographed Cherryl & Jim’s wedding (at The Grove, NJ) a few years back, and then along the way the maternity session, and various photo sessions with the kiddos along the way. The most recent photo session with their daughter, Mikayla and their son, Connor, took place in their home. Since it was late Fall, it was a touch too cold outside, so we took photos indoors.
The other truly rewarding thing is to get feedback from the parents about the photos of their kids.
The first email from Cherryl after she saw the gallery:
Totally in love with the pics!!! Thank you thank you thank you!!! They look so amazing and awesome. As always, thank you for the amazing work! We are so grateful to have found you to capture all of our memories!!!! I love love love love them!!!!! Thank you!
I then asked her for some feedback for this post, about the experience over the years of having me photograph their family:
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!! I have no other words for the pictures from this shoot. We’ve been using Neil for years and he has never disappointed. He’s amazing with our kids and was able to create and photograph the most perfect moments – not an easy task with children. He was patient with every tear and tantrum and kind and understanding with every delay. I couldn’t have wished for better pictures or a better person to take them. Thank you for capturing the most important moments in our life!!!
Here are a few of the photos we took this time around, and further below, a selection of photos from the maternity session and a few of the baby photographs along the way. All part of the journey as a family.

Neil – these are perfect, I’m sure Cherryl and Jim are thrilled! I checked out their wedding blog too that you referenced – holy smokes! It’s so special when a couple keeps asking you to share in all of their big events!
