my presentation at PPAM …

It was an honor to be invited to be a presenter at the convention held this past weekend by the Professional Photographers’ Association of Massachussets (PPAM). The 4 day convention was held in Natick, a city just outside of Boston, and I had a 3 hour segment on Sunday afternoon. My presentation was a scaled down version of my workshops on flash photography techniques.

The response afterwards was tremendous; numerous people thanked me and congratulated me, and I even got several “best presentation of the convention” comments. Not only was that gratifying to hear these comments, but also to see that there were actually more people at the end than when I started the presentation.

Here’s a compilation of a few images, mostly of the time during the break when I was chatting to people in the front. It seems I can’t keep my hands still when I talk.

Jen & Tom …

Jen and Tom’s wedding (and reception) was held at the Highlawn Pavilion here in New Jersey - a place renowned for its amazing view out towards Manhattan. And not only did I have a photogenic couple, but also beautiful light in the late afternoon of this winter’s day.

From earlier in the day, with Jen’s prep …

… and this wasn’t the first time that as a wedding photographer I had to help the bride get dressed. Sometimes those last few buttons need stronger fingers than the maid of honour has.

.
The First Look is always a time where I know the groom will react. In this case, Tom’s beaming gaze says everything.

These photos show some of the beautiful interior of the Highlawn Pavilion:

Weddings. Serious stuff.

Jen (and everyone else) cracking up with laughter when she fluffs her lines during the ceremony …

Jen and Tom, congratulations and best wishes for your future together.

the lunar eclipse tonight …

It was quite mesmerising to stand on the front porch tonight, and watch the complete lunar eclipse. It was visible here on the East Coast and fortunately we didn’t have too much of a cloudy night.  My daughter, Janine, had her telescope out, and I just had to take some photos.  This is my best image of the nearly full eclipse.

Rachel’s Bat Mitzvah

Rachel is a sweet and charming young woman and it was my pleasure to photograph her at her Bat Mitzvah party this past weekend. (The party was held at the Alpine Country Club here in New Jersey.)

Mazel Tov, Rachel!

my favourite images from 2007

As I move into the 2008 wedding season, I thought it is time to look at last years weddings, and to review what I’ve put on my blog, to think about new samples for the upcoming year. Looking back over my work of the past year, there are always images that pop out as clear favourites.

This year, I’ve created a slideshow of my very favourite images from 2007. It was hard to narrow it down to just 150 images, but I managed. And these images represent what I think is the very best of my wedding photography work from last year. Enjoy!
