Engagement photo session in Hoboken, NJ – Erin & Gerard

I love doing engagement photo sessions – as a precursor to the wedding day, it is a wonderful relaxed time to get to know a couple before the big day. There is no pressure, and we can concentrate on getting lovely photos of the soon-to-be bride and groom. With Erin and Gerard’s engagement photo session in Hoboken, we had just what any photographer could want – a fun, vibrant couple that is energizing to work with. Erin and Gerard met up with me late in the afternoon since the light is usually better then than mid-day. We chose Hoboken because it offers such a variety of locations, all within easy walking distance – alleyways, urban areas, park-like places and then of course, the view of the Manhattan skyline from the waterfront!

We strolled around a wide loop, visiting some of the photogenic spots along the way. The set of photos we ended up with is the usual easy mixture of relaxed posed photos and the more spontaneous photos where Erin and Gerard’s chemistry shone through. For me, that’s part of the necessity and beauty of an engagement photo session – it’s a stress-free precursor to the wedding day, where we find a rhythm to the romantic portraits, and see what works.
