Elopement, New York – new year’s eve – Kathy & Ken
Kathy and Ken are a couple from California who wanted to do their exchange of vows in Central Park, on New Year’s Eve. Not a wedding ceremony. Just the two of them in as private a moment as you could have in Central Park – an intimate exchange of vows to each other, with an exchange of rings.
We started out with the horse carriage ride through Central Park to a place near The Pond in the South-East corner of the park – that relatively quieter spot behind Gapstow Bridge. After the exchange of vows in Central Park, we left for Times Square in the back of two bicycle rickshas, a wild ride down 5th Avenue! We stopped at various points along the way. One of the sights were the Christmas lights at Rockefeller Plaza, which looked especially good as a backdrop for portraits. From there, we went to Times Square for more photos. As an elopement wedding photographer, I want to show the couple against the scenery of New York – some of the quintessentially New York places – so we work out a route that will cover as much as we reasonably can.
The weather on this 31st Dec, was quite mild, and by 3pm dense crowds had already started to form in Times Square. It was quite amusing to watch how people around us responded to the sight of Kathy and Ken – heads turning to look at this very elegant couple striding along the crowded sidewalks – with me photographing every move. We even had tourists ask to take their photos. With a personal paparazzi in tow, they had to be celebrities. Well, Kathy and Ken certainly looked the part in their formal attire!
Kathy & Ken, this was a most memorable New Year’s Eve and it was a pleasure to be with you on this day.

Fun shoot. I love the first and last images. The lens flare is quite bold and the last image is the quintessential NYC scene. Nice work!
