Engagement photo session NJ, Skylands Manor – Abi & Josh
I love it when an engagement photo shoot kinda runs away from me in the sense that the couple needs very little prompting, and they are energetic and spontaneous. This allows me to concentrate on the essential element of the engagement photo session – capturing the relationship between the two. This is how Abi and Josh were during their photo session – spontaneous, funny and warm. I even left in a few of the goofy moments from the shoot. You can see them below. For all that, Abi and Josh were wonderfully down to earth, and a pleasure to photograph. There was real affection between them, and with their spontaneity, it all made for delightful portraits of the two of them.
The photos at the top shows how dark the sky had become by the end of the photo session. I had kept my eye on the weather and a weather app on my phone, and were heading back to our cars …. but we were absolutely drenched less than 5 minutes from when we took these last few photos. But that weather sure gave us a beautiful dramatic sky for the shoot. All the photos here were taken at Skylands Manor Botanical Gardens in Ringwood, NJ. The venue is just wonderful because it offers a varied backdrop for photos. There’s always some place to explore and let a couple roam free.
Another thing that I love about engagement photo sessions, is that these are a precursor to the wedding day – it helps the photographer to find a groove with the couple, and sets the tone for what we can expect on the big day. With that in mind – Abi and Josh, I really look forward to your wedding day. We’re going to have fun!
