New York elopement wedding in Central Park – Ruth & Philip
The photograph right at the top is my absolute favorite of the day – Ruth and Philip hugging their two kids closer during their elopement wedding ceremony in Central Park. That genuine affection between everyone.
We met up at their hotel near Times Square and took the subway up to Columbus Circle where we started with the proper photo session. As always, we want to show some of the New York backdrop, but just as importantly, the way that the couple (and their family) interconnect.
Portraying the relationships is, for me, the essential element in wedding photography. This is made all much easier when you have a couple as naturally at ease as Ruth and Philip and their two adorable kids, Harley and Riley.
We took photos of them around Columbus Circle for a short while, and then headed down 59th Street to the other corner of Central Park. We didn’t want to be late in meeting up with the officiant. The ceremony was to be at the familiar spot behind Gapstow Bridge in Central Park. Arriving a few minutes early, we took more portraits of Ruth and Philip on the bridge, with the familiar Manhattan buildings in the background.
The elopement wedding officiant was Jackie Reinking, with a sweet ceremony where Ruth and Philip snuggled in with the kids. Mostly.
After the ceremony we meandered back to where the family was going to catch a horse carriage for further sight-seeing in Central Park. Along the way, Ruth took the time to excitedly do video calls with family back in the UK to show off the new wedding ring!
Riley and Harley dancing to the music that the food truck vendor was playing. All part of the New York experience.
Ruth and Philip (and Harley and Riley), it was an absolute delight meeting you and working with you. Best wishes for the future!
