Catherine & Ed – Central Park, New York – photo session

Catherine and Ed came specially up to New York from Virginia for the photo session! As part of their day trip to Manhattan, we spent two hours in Central Park – a leisurely photo shoot while getting to know each other better before their upcoming wedding. Rachel & Joe – their wedding day on the Jersey shore

A wedding down on the Jersey shore on a Tuesday! Count me in. On their wedding day, the weather on this early Spring day turned out to be wonderful – surprisingly warm after a colder weekend. Just perfect for their portrait session on the beach. We did the photo session before the ceremony, but also snuck out later on when the light was just perfect with the sun going down. Great light, a great setting, and a good-looking couple – a photographer’s dream. Rachel and Joe, it was an absolute pleasure working with the two of you as your wedding photographer!

I’m quite pleased – actually, I am very happy! that my photographs of Christine and Jesse’s wedding at the Park Savoy, have been featured in an article on the venue, in the latest issue of Manhattan Bride. I like photographing at this particular venue – their gardens are beautiful, and the building has a certain charm.

Rachel & Joe – photo session

Now, in choosing photos to post here, I have to juggle which one to lead the blog entry with. A photo which is pretty, or shows oodles of personality. And with this photo, I think it shows both aspects of our couple – good-looking and lots of personality. And there we have Rachel and Joe.

The photo session with Rachel and Joe was on the boardwalk in Asbury Park, NJ … on a surprisingly brisk weekend afternoon. And when I say brisk, I mean cold! Still, I love what we came up with. And all credit has to go to the couple for their energy and spark. Rachel and Joe, I look forward to photographing your wedding

Lindsay & Chris – their wedding – Radisson Plaza Lord Baltimore hotel, MD

It was hugely flattering when Chris approached me way back to photograph his and Lindsay’s wedding. Chris follows my Tangents blog, and my writing and photography there had convinced him that he would love to have me as their wedding photographer. Even though I am based in New Jersey, I happily do weddings further afield … in this case, Baltimore.

Lindsay and Chris’ wedding took place at the Lord Baltimore hotel, which is a historic building. Now, the word “historic” to me means an interesting place with all kinds of nooks and crannies and places for great photographs with the couple. We even went out onto the street outside the hotel, stopping by the Subway station a while with the colorful lights as background. The image at the top was inspired by the wisps of steam floating up at a street corner. Perfect opportunity for romantic portraits with a mood.

To top it all, Lindsay and Chris were an endearing couple who happily worked with me to get these great images! It’s one of those weddings where the images really show how much fun it was to photograph it. Lindsay and Chris, thank you! It was a pleasure and an honor to have met you and photographed your wedding. Best wishes for the future.

Laura & Todd – their wedding day – Westmount Country Club, NJ

Laura and Todd’s wedding was like a family reunion for me in a way. They are the 5th couple in a wider family group whose wedding I photographed, and on this day I met up with previous couples and parents and other family and friends. So many face I recognized and knew. With their photo session in New York, I also knew that photographing their wedding would be an exciting fun day anyway … so with all that, I was really looking forward to this. And it all adds up to a set of photographs that I am quite proud of.  Enjoy!

Randa & Adam – their wedding day – Crystal Plaza, NJ

I photographed Randa’s sister’s wedding a number of years back, which made it quite special to be invited back to photograph another special occasion in this family. Randa and Adam are quite a photogenic couple, as you can immediately see in the top images here.

The wedding ceremony was Orthodox Christian, which meant it was colorful and vibrant. The St George Antiochian Orthodox church in Little Falls, NJ is also beautiful with huge tinted glass windows. Of course, for photographers this means both interesting and challenging light – but that’s another story. The wedding reception was held at the Crystal Plaza in Livingston, NJ which is also great to shoot at. Along with a couple that was wonderful to work with, this all added up to a day where I am quite proud of the photographs.
