reportback: flash photography workshop - Manassas, VA

Each time I teach others, whether in a workshop format or in a personal mentoring session, it also provides me with a great opportunity for personal and professional growth. My approach to teaching shifts as I redefine the material I present.

With the most recent workshop in Manassas, I realised I have moved from a viewpoint where I want to teach other photographers what I do, and how I do it …. to an approach where I want to teach other photographers how to achieve what they want to do.

Also, something truly affecting for me with this workshop, was when I realised that two attendees had travelled all the way from Michigan to attend … and then said it had very much been worth it.

Thanks to the Candy Factory Art Center in Manassas, which was a fantastic venue for a sold-out workshop, and to Karen for handling the planning and coordination … and Ashlea, our gorgeous model who was so patient.

Thanks to everyone who attended. Do keep in touch!

Jaime and Matt …

It was a fairly cold afternoon in late Fall when I photographed Jaime and Matt for their engagement session. But this didn’t seem to affect their  energy, and we had a fun session at the Skylands Manor.  Jaime and Matt, thank you to the two of you.

new album line - PictoBooks

Of all the albums that I see at trade shows, the one album company that has consistenly impressed me with the quality of their albums, and the quality of their printing, is PictoBooks.  Because I am so impressed with these albums, I am now carrying this as my top-of-the-line album option.

The cover has a large plexiglass photo cameo on the front of the album.  It really looks vibrant and is eye-catching.  There are different leather options available, but for my first studio sample, I chose this plum colour.  I think it looks stunning.

The album comes in a wooden presentation box:

.
The printing is gorgeous, with beautiful skin tones and saturated colours.

.
The quality of the album is also immediately apparent in the binding, and the fact that the edges of the pages are sealed.

I know my couples will love these albums as much as I do.

Adriana & Chris …

Adriana and Chris’ wedding had a Victorian period theme.  I should also mention that when Chris bought an antique ring as an engagement ring, he waited a year for the perfect moment to ask Adriana to marry him.  This already revealed how elegantly romantic their wedding day would be. The wedding was held at the Tarrywile Mansion in Danbury, CT - a beautiful old mansion which was just the right setting.

The ceremony was held outdoors in the gardens under a grape arbor.

Adriana and Chris, it was a wonderful experience as your photographer at your wedding. :)

Carla & Erik …

When I photographed Carla and Erik’s engagement session in Las Vegas we had such a great time that I knew their wedding would be one of the highlights of my wedding season. Carla is fun loving and full of energy, and Erik, as a fellow professional photographer, fell right into the spirit of things.

One of the surprise moments in the day, (which I already posted about here on the blog), was when Erik pulled out a camera to photograph his bride approaching down the aisle with her dad. Her reaction was priceless!

Carla and Erik, best wishes for your future together. :)
