on the road …

Over the next few months, I’ll be presenting seminars on wedding photography, alongside my friend and colleague, Walter van Dusen.  We’ll be visiting various locations under the auspices of the Professional Wedding Photographers Forum.

Walter’s program will cover marketing to the client with the use of a web site, printed PR packs and multi media presentation DVD slide shows. He will cover his entire wedding workflow, from start to finish.

I’ll discuss my lighting techniques and provide information on how I use flash in wedding situations, to give results which go beyond the ordinary.

in the spotlight …

Fame and fortune at last! .. well .. maybe not quite Fortune yet, but a least a touch of Fame as I am featured as the Spotlight Photographer this time around on the New York Wedding Photographer’s Blog. The idea behind this blog is to showcase various resources available to brides in the New York area - and as such it is quite flattering to be featured. :)

And for no particular reason, other than I think it is a beautiful photograph, and hey! this is about New York … here is a panoramic shot of the night-time Manhattan skyline as seen from New Jersey.

Boston, MA - flash photography workshop …

I presented two workshops on flash photography last week in Watertown, MA (which is right next to Boston), on Tue 2/27 and Wed 2/28. They were  on the lines of the tutorials on my website dealing with how I use flash with wedding photography.

The response when I initially announced the workshop,  was very good.  So good that I had to add a second workshop on the next day. The choice of venue - St John’s in Watertown - was a fortunate choice in that we had access to the sanctuary. This was good to help the group figure out flash photography techniques in what is one of the toughest places for a wedding photographer - in the church itself.

Here are two images (taken by John Hartnett) during the workshop:

The feedback via email and on the forums, as well as at the workshop itself, have been overwhelming.

I went away from each workshop in the evenings, tired and exhilarated. It really is a wonderful experience as a workshop leader / teacher to see when someone *gets* something, and things falling into place. It feels good to know that the workshops can have this much impact!

So thank you to everyone who was there. Keep in touch!
