I was recently asked by Cory Parris to submit an article to his website / blog, The Wedding Photography Project. For my entry, I decided to explain my technique in capturing this image, of a couple during a 4th of July fireworks display. This ties in with the rest of the tutorials on my website where the article also now appears – shooting technique – fireworks & flash.
Thank you Cory, it’s quite an honour to be featured amongst the very best wedding photographers out there.
Love this shot. Wow, what a nice end of wedding kind of shot.

Neil,
I love the fireworks and wedding couple image.
I have a wedding on April 4th and they are doing two firework displays.
One after their first kiss, which it will not be completely dark.
And then again when they have their first dance.
Can you tell me what the secret is to get this shot.
What are your shutter speed, aperture and ISO setting for this shot.
Thank you for your time.
