Melissa & Hayden - NYC photo session

Melissa and Hayden are recent transplants here from San Diego, California. Since most of their friends and families are in California, they decided to have their wedding there in ‘07. But wanted to have their engagement photo session in New York, and to give it a specific NYC flavour to show friends and family there. And what exclaims “New York!” more than yellow cabs in Times Square?

Still in Times Square, using the giant electronic billboards as colourful backdrops …

And from a final series of images of Melissa, looking appropriately glamorous against the lights on Broadway …

Melissa and Hayden, thank you for a fantastic afternoon, and best wishes with the wedding plans ahead.
And a thank you to Darin Fong, their photographer in San Diego, for letting me take on the NYC photo session.

Katharina & Vincent …

Katharina was brave enough to tackle her wedding planning herself down to the arrangements at the reception, with only a few months lead time. It all turned out beautiful, and Katharina herself was a stunning bride …

Katharina and Vincent at Lambert’s Castle for their portraits …

Katharina, great job, and best wishes to you and Vincent.

Mandy & Chris …

Mandy and Chris’ wedding was held against the beautiful backdrop of the Hardlabor Creek State Park, (near Atlanta, GA) … and was my first taste of Southern hospitality. Even though it rained and the ceremony had to be brought inside, it didn’t faze Mandy at all. The rain let up soon after and we eventually were able to use the surrounding area by the lake for the portraits.

Mandy & Chris, congrats and best wishes!

Susan & Jarl … a Fall wedding

Susan and Jarl’s wedding took place at the end of October when the autumn leaves were everywhere. With the warm Fall colours and a beautiful bride - how much easier can it be to get great images?

I like this image for the slightly enigmatic mood …

From earlier the morning in Susan’s home …

Susan & Jarl - congratulations!
And thank you for being a great couple to work with.

I’d also like to say thank you to my friend Thomas Geist who was visiting from Germany, and who kindly helped me out on the day.  Here is one of Thomas’ images …

Alicia & David …

My good friend Scott Bush invited me to help cover Alicia and David’s wedding as a 2nd photographer. I always enjoy the times when I am a 2nd photographer - the pressure is less, and there is the freedom to get more creative photojournalistic images. Alicia was a stunningly beautiful bride, and David a handsome groom - and they both were into the photography, making it easy to get great images of this couple.

This image was shot just using the available light from the myriad of little lamps on the gazebo - creating an appropriately soft light for romantic photographs.

The party afterwards was one of the most energetic I’ve seen, with David eventually crowd-surfing over the dancing guests.

Alicia & David - congrats!
And a thank you to Scott - it was really good working with you again.
For more images from this wedding, check out Scott’s blog.
