How do you think a bride would react if the groom, who is a photographer, whipped out a camera to photograph her and her father approaching down the aisle?
I recently photographed Carla and Erik’s wedding, and Erik begged me for one of my cameras.
He hid it behind his back until Carla and her dad approached …

… so that he could photograph her reaction.
(This is one of the images that Erik took.)

Exasperation …

… and then a stern warning to “put that thing away!”.

Um .. a good start there, Erik!

I love that he did this. What a great memory. Her expression is priceless, especially when she tells him to put the camera away.
I read this and I never stopped smiling for at least 10 minutes.
I love these pictures. Thank you Neil, for capturing the memories of my brother’s wedding.
Ed … thank you for the kind compliment.
In turn I have to say .. dammitt! You’re good! Wow!
Stay there in San Francisco, and don’t move over to NJ / NY area.
that’s the funniest thing i’ve ever seen!
oh, and major kudos to you cause you are one of the main reason why i joined the wedding photography industry.

Erik had to promise Carla that he would keep the camera at home… we thought everything would be fine, never thinking he would grab yours! Way to go Erik!!!!!
Good Idea! I couldn’t stop laughing. BTW I love your work and I admire you a lot; you’re successful enough to teach others and humble enough to share your knowledge, thank you so much.
What a great shot, the look, the laugh and THE FINGER!
Neil, your online instruction is the best I’ve read. You cut through the clutter and make it easier to understand. You have helped me become a better photographer through your online instruction. I can hardly wait to attend your all day workshop and thank you in person.
This is so funny. I’ve photographed several weddings for friends who are photographers and I’m always very aware of the fact that it’s probably very difficult for them to NOT have a camera at this so, so important day! I’ve always said “if you want to carry a camera, please don’t think I’ll be offended.” But I haven’t had one do this…yet!
